Welcome to the Glee Challenge 2025

Our events are no ordinary school choir concert or mass choir event where you can't see your child. We are the largest most inclusive choir initiative in Scotland. Our choirs sing, dance and perform on Scotland's most iconic stages - Usher Hall, Royal Concert Hall, Perth Concert Hall, Alhambra Theatre - in front of audiences of their peers, carers/parents. Our Glee Challenge concerts are unique and generate an energy never to be forgotten. As many will testify participation in the Challenge bring significant benefits to children, schools and the school community.

This year we will be opening the Challenge to Highland & Islands for the very first time !

Highland Pathway

We are delighted to launch the Highland & Islands Regional Glee Challenge section of the Scottish Primary School Glee Challenge. The Challenge is now in its tenth year and we hope for the very first time to find the best Primary School Glee choir in the Highlands & Islands. This will be achieved through judging video submissions made by schools. The winning choir will be invited to the North/ North East Regional Final with potential to progress to our National Final. The winning choir will for this inaugural year will have their cost of travel to the Regional final subsidised by 50% to a maximum of £200.

be exempt from the entry charge for 2025 only.
read the rules and regulations of the Challenge and those regarding video submissions.
will be prepared to attend and perform at the live Regional and National Final

KEY STEPS

Preparation Phase

School choir leader should email as above and then register and join the members section of the website for all the information they need.

Schools form their own Glee choirs and learn the set songs and a song of their own choosing that is in-keeping with this years theme of Scottish contemporary/pop/rock music.

One of our wider aims is to promote inclusive communication and signing in the set song will continue to be encouraged as part of our Challenge

Video Submission Heats

Choirs will perform two songs a set song and one of their own choosing. If possible for parents or at a school assembly.

Schools should video their chosen songs and submit these for judging. Choirs will be judged across four areas - vocal, choreo, teamwork and performance. The winner of the video submisson will progress to their Regional finals

Regional/National Final

Winners of the various heats will progress to their Regional finals.

The winners of each Regional Final, and should space permit the next best scoring choirs across all regions, will be invited to join the National Final.

Regional Final

Despite our very best and considerable efforts we have been unable to secure a date with the Eden Court Theatre and Cinema complex for 2025. We will be entering into discussions soon with the Theatre for 2026 which we hope will be more fruitful. We have decided meantime to create a pathway which that will allow Glee choirs from the region to make it all the way to the North/ North East Regional Final at the Music Hall on the 13th May.
