The initiative is designed to 

  • encourages schools to self reflect and continuously improve

  • puts young people at the forefront of the decision making and planning of music and song in their school

  • helps schools to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in music and song 

  • helps schools to put music and song at the heart of their planning, practice and ethos

  • recognises and celebrates successful music and song models

The Scotland's Singing Schools Award provides schools with the following benefits:

  • it demonstrate to their communities a commitment to music and song

  • national recognition for the hard work of many school staff

  • identifies current strengths and areas for improvement in music and song 

  • provides a progression framework and development plan template to help guide improvement

  • develop a learner led and learner centred approach to music and song

UNIFYING

HOW DO WE APPLY

Currently due to Covid 19 lockdown and associated restrictions the relaunch of Scotland's Singing Schools Award has been suspended. As soon as it is appropriate and safe to do so we will announce how the Award, application and assessment processes will operate and open.
